Large extension to an existing Waste Transfer Facility, including the incorporation of large scale recycling machinery and sorting equipment. The building was designed around a difficult site with a large gabion basket retaining wall forming the basis for development. The structure is a traditional cladded steel portal frame, containing a viewing gallery, and a substation. The project also incorporated a rainwater retention system to prevent surcharging of the surface water drainage systems, and the adjacent River Irwell.
