PROJECT: Regeneration of Handsworth Recreation Ground, Sheffield

Appointed as CDM Co-ordinator by Sheffield City Council on a rolling programme, this was one of the first projects undertaken by Jenkins Design Services under the new Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.

Working very closely with our client , in an advisory capacity, and the Architect, throughout the design stage, we were able to identify potential risks, design them out of the scheme and implement controlled measures, resulting in no reportable incidents throughout the duration of the project.

Handsworth Recreation Ground was a run down, tired public open space, located within a residential area. This site has been transformed by the introduction of a new adopted pedestrian footpath and cycleway through the site, contoured earthworks forming adventure play areas with vibrant bespoke play equipment, new Multi Use Games Areas and upgraded existing recreational  facilities. Plus various sculptures, boulder seating and climbing walls, community planted gardens, including sensory garden and perimeter fencing.
